Wide-ranging materials planning responsibilities for an experienced and proactive professional AkzoNobel is a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals. Our Decorative Paints business area (BA) adds color to people’s lives with a full range of interior and exterior decoration and protection products for the trade and consumer markets. As authorities on color we aim to provide all our customers – from professional decorators to DIY enthusiasts – with a great color experience and a fantastic finish. Our range includes paints, lacquers and varnishes, as well as products for surface preparation (pre-deco products). Our site at Sassenheim, the Netherlands, performs production planning, material planning and life cycle management for a number of our manufacturing sites in the EMEA region. To support this process we currently seek a proactive and accomplishedYour core function in this role is to manage all material planning activity and bring new standards of management to a group of material planners, initiating improvement projects and bringing material planning to the ‘next level’ across all value streams. In doing so you will increase the level of service and delivery performance to customers and minimize (stock) cost in the Supply Chain. This requires drive and leadership as you engage with cross-functional teams to deliver improvements and deploy best practices. Responsibilities and deliverables Within this context you manage and review requirements for raw and pack materials, providing leadership and guidance for direct reports and the proactive management of New Product Introductions (NPIs) to meet agreed launch dates. You also provide proactive management of the phasing out process in order to minimize obsoletes, leading inventory reduction while maintaining service/availability. Thus you ‘own’ the material availability and inventory coverage measures for the Hub Supply Review, as well as the master data process for materials including link to Lifecycle management. To achieve this you work closely with the production planning manager and the production sites, as well as Procurement, to improve processes and formulate weekly/monthly material requirements plans. You also enter into optimized partnerships with suppliers (Vendor Managed Inventory, forecasting, etc), understanding supplier capabilities and driving vendor On Time In Full. Further, you ensure data integrity within the functional planning module and support users in the effective use of the SAP P2P and MRP including MRP parameters. Ultimately, you will be responsible for 6-8 direct reports and you travel for 10-20% of your time. Candidate profile Applicants for this position must meet the following criteria: • Minimum 5 years of experience in Material Planning, and an understanding of production planning, warehouse flows, storage principles and their inter-dependencies with Material Planning • Experience in a procurement or purchasing role • Experience of leading a team • HBO/ Academic working and thinking level and, preferably, a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics or Science and/or a certificate in Purchasing Management/Diploma in Business Studies/Production Control (APICS) or similar • Highly numerate and analytical team player with business understanding and excellent communication skills including fluent written and spoken English and, ideally, French • Extensive experience with ERP systems, SAP APO/PP/MM is preferred, including Master Production Scheduling.
